The Government of Mexico City has activated a yellow alert due to heavy rain and strong winds expected for the afternoon and night of this Thursday in all boroughs. For March 5th, between 1:00 PM and 8:00 PM, rainfall of between 15 and 29 millimeters is expected, as well as winds over 50 kilometers per hour. The Secretariat of Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection (SGIRPC) recommended that citizens carry umbrellas or raincoats; sweep and keep drains clear of trash or objects that may obstruct them; close doors and windows; and not cross streets or avenues with water currents. Likewise, the agency suggested staying away from trees, power lines, or walls; securing roofs and awnings that could fly away; driving with caution; and storing or removing outdoor objects that could fall.
